The challenge
The goal was to redesign a website online brand using a WordPress content management system with specific plugins advancing a blog article template provided by the client in Huntington Beach, Calif. We integrated a video section into marquee sliders to display teaser clips of articles posted on the website. Our team then coded star ratings on each blog post to increase online search results. We developed Call to Action buttons so users could easily identify important areas in the homepage interface when reading the content on the web design homepage. Our team then web developed a carousel scroll block for multiple stories to be displayed at the header so users can read a list of stories without scrolling below the second fold of the website. We target user locations with a popup newsletter CTA when users first land on the website, which was an important deliverable requested from the client.
The web design solution
Our process began with mockups of two different design layouts before going into the web development stage. We installed WordPress to customized the theme provided by the client. MJM Designz wanted to really focus on developing an informational Huntington Beach web design blog website with custom plugins to advance each story’s layout and the user experience. We built a custom theme mirroring the mockup we presented to the client. Once we completed web developing the interface design, we populated all the stories from an XML feed into each category. Encryption is important for all websites, so I installed an SSL certification, embedded analytics for search engine marketing tactics and Google webmaster tools after launch.
